I am running Joomla 1.5, and was trying to set up a store with Virtuemart. I don’t need all that many features, just the ability to display and sell products using Paypal and maybe one or two other similiar options. Does anyone have any knowledge of what would be best besides Virtuemart?

Virtuemart is the only decent free one and it seems to work fine. But I changed from Virtuemart to Zencart which is a standalone e-commerce solution that really is very good. The biggest frustration for me is the fact that I cannot get Virtuemart to work with down loadable stuff I’d like to sell. That is why I rather use Zencart.
What I’ve found also to be a very viable solution, is Setcom. You can create you buy now, shopping cart and check out button for your articles and it handles all your finances from there.
The first link is to Setcom where you can read more about it.
The second link is to my basic online shop.
The third link is where I incorporated the Setcom in Joomla.
